For us, pest control is part of our everyday lives. However, we understand that some people may forget the importance of pest control. That is why we have written this article to highlight what the world would look like without pest control specialists. From pest inspections for a new home purchase to looking after your furry friends – pest control is essential for every commercial property and household.
Take a look back in history for a sharp reminder of what our lives would look like without pest control.
What would happen to us in a world without pest control services? Would we have evolved as quickly? Let’s find out!
History Of Pest Control
Disease And Widespread Illness
Diseases such as dysentery, cholera, typhus, dengue fever, malaria, West Nile virus, arboviral encephalitis and yellow fever or all insect-borne diseases. Without the introduction of pest control, the world’s population would be vastly reduced by millions due to an increase in deaths from these diseases being out of control.
Those who had not perished would be extremely ill and contagious with the effects of these insect-borne diseases. History reveals millions of people dying from diseases like the Bubonic plague resulting from bites from fleas who fed on infected rats and history would certainly repeat itself without pest control measures.
Imagine you are back in 1874 in the United States where billions of locusts devoured millions of crops. Fast forward and if this happened again, drastically reducing fruit, vegetable and grain crops for the world’s population or wiping them out entirely, we would see an increase in global malnutrition leading to starvation, death and disease.
Is this an unthinkable statement, a world without pest control? What would really happen if there was no such thing as pest control anymore? Would our lives have evolved to what they are today without pest control being introduced?
We just need to take a look back on some events in history for a sharp reminder of what our lives could potentially look like without the introduction and resulting benefit of pest control and it doesn’t look pretty. The Gold Coast, Ipswich and Brisbane would have a very different lifestyles.
Pets would suffer from an eternal onslaught of fleas and the resulting skin conditions. Pets would be dying from ticks and from Heartworm larvae transmitted from mosquitoes and would most certainly have very short life spans.
Without the benefit of pest control, our homes would be overtaken by termites. These insects can eat their way through extraordinary amounts of wood and left to breed and multiply at will our homes would soon become uninhabitable everywhere in the world.
So it is not hard to imagine the orderly, relatively pest-free life we experience at present really has come about as a result of pest control.
Why We Need Pest Control
As you can see from the above list, pest control is an important part of everyone’s life. Without it, we would not be able to live the way we do.
Left unchecked there would be an uncontrolled multiplication of each species of insects. Picture flies on every surface, thousands of cockroaches in your home, millions of mosquitoes, hundreds of spiders scuttling across every wall and floor, bees, wasps and every other creepy-crawly in plague proportions. Humans would become the minority.
GC Pest Control has been keeping homes and businesses pest free for many years and will continue to do so to ensure there is never a world without pest control on the Gold Coast, Ipswich and Brisbane.
